Music for the 30th Day of September

Listen To Meee!

0:00:01) Psalm 69 by Ministry off of Psalm 69

al-jourgensen

0:05:30 (Rev.’s Blah, Blah, Blah #1: Qualms Of Conscience by Diablo Swing Orchestra off of The Butcher’s Ballroom)

In my opinion that was the perfect way to start the International Blasphemy Day edition of Aurally Fixated. So, welcome to the last day of September; we kicked it off with Ministry preaching Psalm 69. I’ve been dying to play that one since The First of May when I was possessed by it because I read from the Bible… for some reason. Now, up next we have Hank Williams III

0:06:45) Satan Is Real/Straight to Hell by Hank Williams III off of Straight to Hell

0:09:50) Christianity by Bill Hicks off of Rant In E-Minor

0:10:15) Go To Hell (ReMix) by Nina Simone off of Remixed & Reimagined

0:!4:40) Piss on Your Grave by The Tiger Lillies off of Two Penny Opera

0:17:55) No More Room by The Scarring Party off of Come Away From the Light

0:19:25 (Rev.’s Blah, Blah, Blah #2: Hero by Zion I off of Heroes In The City of Dope)

First came Hank 3 with the title track off Straight to Hell. Then followed the tiniest bit of Bill Hicks’ take on Christianity. After which we had the; singer, songwriter, and activist Nina Simone with a spiced up version of her already perfect Go To Hell. That was off Remixed & Reimagined. Then along came The Tiger Lillie to take her advice. In that pretty little ditty they went to Hell to Piss on Your Grave. And perhaps because of that The Scarring Party reported that there’s No More Room in Hell. Which is good because after today we’ll all have our reservations booked. But as Sam Kinison said, “If you’re going to miss Heaven, why miss it by 2 inches? Miss It!”

0:20:55) God’s Song (That’s Why I Love Mankind) by Etta James off of Gold

0:24:25) God Thinks by Voltaire off of Almost Human

0:28:45) American Jesus by Bad Religion off of Recipe For Hate

0:31:55) Newspapers And Religion by Dylan Moran off of What It Is Live

0:33:45) (Rev.’s Blah, Blah, Blah #3: Magic Blood by Man Man off of The Man in a Blue Turban with Face)

Welcome back to today’s tabernacle of tainted tones, for it is International Blasphemy Day, a day to remind us to question everything – especially the unquestionable. And in that spirit we started with the unparalleled Etta James singing God’s Song (That’s Why I Love Mankind). Which we followed up with Voltaire telling us what God Thinks. After that came a little snippet of R. Lee Ermey from Full Metal Jacket which led rather nicely into a tune I didn’t have enough time to play this Independence Day. American Jesus by the barber-shop quartet of punk, Bad Religion. And now this next band is constantly touring and puts on an amazing show. This is the goddamn gallows.

goddamn gallows

0:35:15) Ya’ll Motherfuckers Need Jesus by the goddamn gallows off of Seven Devils

0:38:45) Plastic Jesus by Jello Biafra & Mojo Nixon off of Prairie Home Invasion

0:43:10) Ezekiel 25:17 by Samuel L. Jackson off of Pulp Fiction [MCA Collectors Edition]

0:44:00) Porcelain Judas by Diablo Swing Orchestra off of The Butcher’s Ballroom

0:48:00) Saint Judas by Mark Growden off of Saint Judas

0:51:20 (Rev.’s Blah, Blah, Blah #4: Check Your Tuning by DoomTree off of False Hopes)

Hopefully you can feel your inner iconoclast energizing. We started that slab of sound off with Ya’ll Motherfuckers Need Jesus off of Seven Devils from the goddamn gallows. And according to Jello Biafra & Mojo Nixon the Jesus we need is Plastic Jesus (Which is actually a cover of an old Goldcoast Singers tune.) After that came Porcelain Judas by the glorious Swedish avant-garde-metal band Diablo Swing Orchestra out of their Butcher’s Ballroom. And lastly was Saint Judas by Mark Growden. That song makes me, like Catwoman here, Want to Be Evil.

KittWoman0:52:55) I Want to Be Evil by Eartha Kitt & Henri René off of The Essential: Eartha Kitt

0:56:20) Religion and Sex by Garrison Keillor & Company off of Plenty of Pretty Good Jokes

1:02:50) Adam And Evil by Elvis Presley off of SpinOut

1:04:40 (Rev.’s Blah, Blah, Blah #5: Larghetto by Rita Honti off of 66 Must-Have Spanish Guitar Masterpieces)

Thank you for using up 80 minuets or so of your life with me, appreciating these beautiful and bizarre unholy hymns. Eartha Kitt kicked it off with I Want to Be Evil. That was followed up with Lords of Acid singing Out Comes The Evil off Voodoo-U. Then finally Elvis Presley came to tell us about Adam And Evil. And now another preacher.

That blasphemous number from The Coup was called The Gods of Science, off Sorry To Bother You. Before which was The Atomic Fireballs warning us about the Man With The Hex. And we started it off with a song from Tech N9ne’s Anghellic telling us he’s not a Devil Boy. And now it’s time for me to leave you with the last, but certainly not least of this episode, Factor featuring one of my favorite musicians/performers Ceschi with their song Pray.

1:19:50) Pray (Feat. Ceschi) by Factor off of Chandelier
